How to prepare for a bikini wax

-Wear loose clothing (eg: sweatpants, summer dress). Trust me it'll make the process easier!

-Hair must be a quarter of an inch (about 10-14 days of growth) to adhere correctly to the wax.

Resist the urge to shave between sessions.  Shaving chafes the skin and creates sharper, coarser hair!

-Gently exfoliate the night before or take a warm bath to prep the skin before your wax. Having a warm bath or shower before your wax can soften your skin allowing for easier hair removal.  We also recommend exfoliation the night before as this removes dead skin build up around and in the follicle again aiding in easier and more thorough removal.  We suggest gently dry brushing OR using a gentle exfoliating scrub or acne cleanser.

-Take a breather. . Come to your appointment as relaxed as you can. Like a lot of things in life, the anticipation is often worse than the actual event. Don't watch YouTube videos, I have yet to find one that shows how it really goes down in the wax room. This is your experience and I want it to be a good one!!

-Make sure not to come in on an empty stomach, believe it or not you're more sensitive when you haven't eaten. Some people take a pain reliever 40 mins before their appointment, I am not suggesting just sharing experiences of other guests..

-Take a deep breath. We often ask clients to take a few deep breaths and to try to relax their muscles once they get on the waxing table.  Don’t worry—it really doesn’t hurt that much. And trust me, I want you to come back, so I won’t do anything to traumatize you!

-Know that it gets better.  We get that first timers don’t know what to expect. My advice is to acknowledge that the first one will be the most uncomfortable, especially if you’ve been shaving prior to it. However, it doesn’t have to be the worst thing you’ve ever done. Most of the time, people leave the room pleasantly relieved that the wax wasn’t nearly as bad as they expected.  Every wax after the first one gets easier, especially when your hair starts growing in finer and the follicle weakens!

If you made it this far, and you still have a question or doubt in your mind, PLEASE reach out! There is no such thing as a dumb question.

So you’ve waxed, now what?

After-care is very important especially when you have sensitive/easily sensitized skin and/or if you are prone to ingrowns. But don't worry I've made some easy to follow guidelines! If you have any more questions feel free to contact me via e-mail waxingbyalida@gmail.com

For the first 24-48 hours be sure to avoid:

-Exfoliating

-Steam

-Sweat (sexual activity and/or exercising)

-Extremely hot showers.

Following the 48 hours be sure to exfoliate with the glove provided 3-4x's a week with a mild body wash and in light circular motions on the area that was waxed. Please try to keep the glove in a dry, clean place due to the fact that it may harbour bacteria if kept in the shower. Be sure to wash your glove and air dry when needed. If extra exfoliation is needed because of stubborn ingrown hairs be sure to use a product such as Bushbalm to help treat the area. (available at the salon for purchase)

Again, if you have any questions feel free to contact me via e-mail! I am here to help! Thank you for trusting me with your waxing needs and supporting a small business. I  hope you had a pleasant experience and hope to see you again! (Ideally in 4-6 weeks)

      XOXO
